Dev was on a nostalgia trip shooting a Puja song sequence for Challenge2 at Lahabari, near Thanthania Kalibari, on Saturday. Because the location, the dhuti-panjabi, the dhunuchi and the dhaak were all a throwback to Poran Jai Joliya Re. “Everyone from the team is asking me, ‘Dada, remember we had done all this for that film too?’. Everything is the same, except that instead of Ravi Kinnagi, Raja Chanda is the director and instead of Subhashree, I have Puja as my co-star,” said Dev. The costumes for the song have been designed by Abhishek Dutta. “I love wearing dhuti. I don’t get to do it off-screen. I can’t go pandal-hopping because people stare at me. I miss eyeing girls and having jhaalmuri at the pandal, something I would do as a youngster,” added Dev, who plays a hard-as-nails cop in Challenge2. “In this song, the two families — Puja’s and mine — accept our relationship and we are about to tie the knot. In Poran Jai, we had danced to Dhaaker taaley, here the song goes Ma ma ma Durga ma. Madhav Krishnji, who choreographed Dhaaker taaley, is doing this song too. He has given us some brilliant steps. It’s quite classical, not the kind of dancing people see me doing,” smiled the man of the moment.
