A Jeet-Koel Mullick film always comes with expectations. After several films together, 100% Love presents this popular Tollywood pair in a new light, and that's the driving force of this film.
The best part of 100% Love is that Jeet and Koel play their age. So, Jeet (as Rahul) looks his part when he plays a 30-plus man, struggling to find a job, finally landing up at Koel's (Anuradha) office, a software company, though the song Ek Mutho Swapno Cheye seems out of place at the very beginning.
Anyway, Rahul falls in love with Anuradha, who also acts as his inspiration.
Expectedly, Rahul eventually becomes a responsible man. The twist in the tale comes when we learn that Avi (Sujoy), Rahul's best friend, is also Anuradha's fiancé. So the plot is not exactly new.
What makes 100% Love worth watching, however, is its narrative style. And we like certain bits, such as the way the song, Tumse Pyaar Hai Already, is filmed inside the office.
If the first leg builds up the drama, the second half takes it further. A notable sequence is when Rahul's father (Supriyo, top-notch acting) goes to Anuradha to talk about his son's love.
There is a chemistry between Jeet and Supriyo, too, which makes their interaction relatively entertaining. Seldom do we see such a father-son relationship in a Bengali film.
If the first half saw Anuradha speak most of the lines, the second presents her in a completely different avatar. She realises she's in love with Rahul, and her `silent' expressions are worth mentioning.
However, the subplots in the second half digress from the story. Was the Rahul-Swarnakamal track really needed to take the story forward? Also, the film didn't need to showcase Avi's grandfather's (Biswajit Chakraborty) weird rules. Though the intention was to make us laugh, we would have loved to see more of RahulAnuradha's blossoming romance. And editor Md.
Kalam could have made the film half-an-hour shorter.
The film provides enough scope to its cast, and both the leads do a good job.
Jeet, whose last few films have been action-oriented, puts up a laudable performance. He is convincing as Rahul, and scores in the emotional scenes. Watch out for his acting when his father passes away. Koel looks beautiful in every frame and emotes wonderfully through her eyes.
Lastly, the famed Jeet-Koel chemistry is 100%.
