What a birthday celebration it was! Every time the 49-year-young birthday boy appeared on screen for "Baishey Srabon", a Shree Venkatesh Films production, and cursed on screen, the audience gave a thunderous applause.
Once the screening got over, director Srijit Mukherji went up on stage to introduce the members of the cast. From Parambrata Chattopadhyay (who hugged the birthday boy) to Anupam Roy (who sang "Ekbar bol nei tor keu nei"), from Goutam Ghose (who returned in front of the camera after 29 years) to Rupam (who went on record to admit that "BS" will remain among his alltime favourite movies), it was celebration time for everyone in the unit. Since the movie is a thriller, a request was put forward not to divulge the ending to anyone.
"As a child, I had watched Tapan Sinha's "Boidurjo Rohoshyo" and remember seeing on screen a request to the audience not to reveal the ending. Since "BS" is a thriller, we are also making the same request to the audience now," Srijit said. The clincher, however, came in the end when the director asked everyone to celebrate Bengali cinema. "Let's show Bombay that we too can do it with a lot less resources!" he said, before the team left the venue to let its hair down at a party.
